Katie Mooney was born in Burlington, Wisconsin and spent her childhood in district three. In 2004 she graduated from Burlington High School and in 2006 she earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics-Statistics from UW-Whitewater.
Katie now lives on the west side of the city with her husband of 20 years and their three children. Katie has been a homeschool educator for the past six years. She also founded and led a successful homeschool group for families in the Burlington area, ran an online resale shop, and worked as a software test engineer.
In her free time Katie loves gardening, cooking, crocheting, camping, playing board games and learning new things.

Katie became interested in local politics after meeting with and speaking on behalf of many of her fellow citizens on a heavily-contested rezoning proposal in her district. After attending many Burlington Planning Commission and City Council meetings, Katie became interested in running for City Alderman. Her background in mathematics and logic as well as her love of helping people and finding solutions to problems sets her up to be successful in this role.
Fiscal Responsibility. Clear Communication.
Once elected to council, Katie would focus on fiscal responsibility. She intends to work with the city council and staff to ensure proper funding for what is essential to the maintenance of our city while properly weighing the fiscal ramification of purchases outside of those not absolutely necessary. Setting up a reasonable budgeting is necessary; sticking to that budget is vital. Katie would also like to maintain a two-way communication with the city residents which she represents. She values transparency and honesty to make Burlington the best place to live, work and thrive.
